WTB Trutrak "B" servos and sell high torque servos

Postby J Wales » Tue Oct 10, 2017 7:12 pm

I've placed this here because this forum is more active than the classifieds which can get "stale".

Alas, I have fallen victim to "exuberant clicking" and purchased a Trutrak A/P with the unnecessarily large and heavy hi-torque servos. I failed to fully educate myself before purchasing. Does anyone have a pair of the lighter weight servos that they are interested in selling? I'm afraid that it is going to exceed the cost of an entirely new system by the time I modify what I have to fit my ship. The setup also came with the flat pack Sorcerer control head which I discovered won't fit into my radio stack because of the canopy cross tube that connects the left and right aft canopy supports. This means I need either the round or the ATI control head.

Failing being able to find a good deal on servos, installation hardware and a round head, I guess I'll have to spring for an entirely new setup and try to sell these components. I'm open to ideas if anyone here has found him/herself in a similar fix. :give: :banghead:

I can't help with the servos but on mine the builder cut out the canopy cross tube center sections. Over time the aluminum support rods failed at the tip of the rod and were replaced with stainless in 3/8 if I recall. Just food for thought on a different direction.

Steve,
I'm not sure that getting the A/P installed is critical enough to justify modifying the fully functioning canopy. I think cutting the rod would seriously destabilize the canopy when open. I can see where that could work but I think it would need additional support on each side near the pivot point. Is that what your builder did?

Chuck, thank you for the link to Van's forum. Ive sent an email to the seller.

Not sure if this is extra support or not.

To chuck out in Petaluma; stay safe. My brother and parents both lost their homes and other properties this week in Santa Rosa.

Steve,
It looks as if the builder used an alternative to running the rod completely across the airplane, great idea! It wouldn't be possible for me unless I was doing a complete panel tear out and rebuild. I'm sorry for your family's losses and glad they are ok.

Ditto on the situation in California.

I have an entire TruTrak Digiflight VSGV system with the smaller servos if you are interested.

Best forum I've found for selling / buying airplane stuff is Vans Airforce wanted. People have figured out it is simply the largest homebuilder community and congregate there no matter what plane they actually fly.

I'm moving this topic to the Classifieds where it belongs. Classifieds are public. If the listing is stale then drop the price or add some pictures or features to freshen it up. :)

My bad, "stale" was a poor choice of words. What I meant was that there seems to be more activity here than in the classifieds. Sorry about that :give:
