WTB(Want to Buy) ads are free. WTS(Selling) ads have a fee to support this site. List your kit, plane, parts, tools, jigs, mounts, engines, avionics BUT YOU MUST INCLUDE A PRICE. A fee of 1% of asking price per month applies but that is capped at $25 maximum monthly. Example $300 part is $3. An airplane would be $25.

This area will probably have stuff for sale and perhaps auctions. the proposal is a $2 fee to list with pictures. Parties can then transact privately for parts or anything that might be easily sold between people on this list. If you have comments on this please provide them in this thread. I'll add that the concept has been very successful on some of the other sites I'm involved with.

Yes, it would just go into the pot for anything needed, server costs, any software or mods we might pay for. Marv's new paint job...

I would think that a fee would be a deterrent for people to list stuff. I know $2 isn't much, but it would be a pain in the butt to pay as well as for the admin to manage the account. I think that there would be more traction and people listing odds and ends if it were a free service to members. Failing that, perhaps add $5 to everyone's membership to cover the cost.
Just my 2 cents.

The concept has been tested and works well on another site I'm involved with. To date, that site has transacted $3mm of parts within the owner community and the $2 listing fee has gone to further the site. The paypal exercise takes 10 seconds, the photo upload takes a few minutes. If people wish to sell on ebay for 10% or barnstormer with no photos they always have those choices.
If you want to start a poll to review the feelings of the community you can do so online here. All data is good data. Users are permitted to start polls. Polls should be placed in the Feedback area. A poll is created from an option within a new post. Try it out.
There is no intent by Marv to charge everyone a fee to participate on this site. That's not going to happen. The founders have put up dough and helped guide the process so far and they have a say as to where the site should go. To date, none of those participants have expressed any concern over the buy/sell concept. In the meantime, users can list whatever they want for free so "go for it".
